Republican presidential hopefuls will compete in primaries and caucuses tonight in Wyoming, Washington D.C., and Guam. If the votes lean heavily in one direction, tonight’s numbers could edge Cruz closer towards that frontrunner spot over Trump.
Cruz has maintained a strong lead in Wyoming today, with Rubio in a distance second and Trump barely registering. Though Trump has won twice the number of states as Cruz, he leads the Texas senator by 93 delegates; 460 to Cruz’s 367. Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, coming in third, has won two states with 153 delegates. Ohio Gov. John Kasich, in a distant fourth place, hasn’t won any states yet.
If Cruz, Rubio, or Kasich can’t close on Trump tonight, they’ll have another chance soon. After today, the GOP candidates will be preparing for he six big contests coming up on March 15. Both Rubio and Kasich will see their own home states holding primaries as Florida, Illinois, Missouri, North Carolina, and Ohio head to the polls.
Results will start coming in as soon as polls close, and we’ll be updating here with the expected winners as they become clear. Ahead, catch up on the results from contests held so far. And be sure to check back to see which Republican candidate emerges the winner of the day.
